I wrote this to a gentleman who asked how the weather was up here, so I figured I'd share it with all of ya'll. The weather here has been just Horrible and we have more headed our way. TY to all of you who asked how I was doing, but we're fine here. We are up on a sloping hill and its a bitch to get up and down when its this snowy, and icy, so I just stay put! lol
Weather here has been nasty. We've had the hardest snow fall on record in the area for 20 years, and its been bad on all these Flatlanders who have never driven in bad snow. Lots of bad wreaks in the larger cities like Seattle. Its pretty here today, with some wonderful sunshine, but from what the weather guy says, its not going to last long and we're going to get blasted again...
I rememeber heavy snow drifts from back home in Arkansas, so this old girl stays inside where its warm and dry and just watches the fools out there going 60 on a snow packed highway.
Have a great weekend, Loves. Please be safe no matter Where you are..k? ;)

oh cat, that sounds awful. never been in full-on snow before. i always imagined it was like the movies, gently falling to the ground, a layer of beautiful white, and all was calm and wonderful. movies got a lot to answer for.
we're sweating through summer. it's starting to cool slightly so putting clothing back on is starting to get exciting. getting cooler at night. even sleeping under a sheet! woo hoo!
keep rugged up babe. hate to think of you freezing to death.

Oh, she's too hot to freeze Bizel!
Cat could melt that snow, if she had a mind too!

*Blush* TY Biz and Real. (Only reason Real lusts me is cuz he knows I'm naughty!) lol
Biz, snow Is beautiful as its coming down. I love watching that part of it, but thats about the extent of it. I've hated snow ever since I was a kid back home, where we'd have snow drifts almost as high as the house in bad winters.
It Is romantic to watch it fall if you have a love or lover beside you and have a roaring fire going in the fireplace, tho...:}
Stay cool Girlfriend, and I hope you get to see some snow-snow one of these days. :}

Sam~
I know what you're going through Cat, but maybe not to your extent. In Western PA it's snowing and ice is falling almost every day. We've had a constant 3-4in. of snow on the ground since Thanksgiving. It's not nearly as bad as yours, but I can certainly see what you mean about the aftermath being what you hate. Mikey spent two hours last night carving icicles off of the gutters and sweeping off the front porch. We might not have it as bad, but we certainly feel your pain.
Rumor has it in Jersey (where we used to live) they've got the most snow they ever had this year. A year for breaking records?; maybe.
Have fun!

ok, i gotta ask - coming from a no-snow place. how do you stop your pipes from freezing up? do you shove anti-freeze in the loo? what if you get a blockage? (the loo, not you). how do you chip the ice away? do you have to boil the kettle and send hot water down?

We have pipe wrapping material that is placed on the pipes under the house to keep them insulated and to hopefully prevent them from freezing up. And if they do, I have filled Pepsi bottles in my freezer, and several gallons on hand in the pantry. ;) We havent had that happen yet, but theres always that eventuality, so I like staying prepared...:cool:

*Gives my favorite pussy a big hug* Yeah, the weather is incredible lately. A week ago we had snow on the ground that just wouldn't go away, then a few days of 60plus degrees had me thinking about putting the kerosene heater up and the containers in the shed til next winter. Nope, was sitting here telling LDD it was freaking cold, gonna light the heater, checked the weather and it was 26 degrees, when the sun came up we had frost.
No wonder people are getting sick. We had a couple days of heavy rain which left both my front and backyards looking like a giant mudpit (wrestling anyone?) and then the wonderful thunderstorm that moved through night before last. One big gust of wind after days of 30mph winds and my whole world went black. Total power outage around 3am, thank goodness it wasn't a freezing night, it had hovered around 50, called my babe and bless his heart he looked the number up for Nolin so I could call and report the outage. Possible substation out, no ETA. Couldn't find a single fripping candle to light and wound up using the backlighting from the cellphone screen to make my way to the bathroom, couldn't flush the toilet no power no water from the pump, and then to the bed. Snuggling down I called him and whined about not having power. I pretty much had nothing to do but go to sleep, it was 3am, no moon and total darkness. Power apparently came back on at 6:30am but I didn't wake up til 7 as it was starting to get light here anyway.
First thing I did was find my candles. They are lined up on the top shelf of computer desk now. I've been keeping water in cleaned out 2 liter bottles in one of the spare rooms just in case I have a major issue and power is out for a long time. I learned my lesson the hard way when I had that electric problem and no running water for a week. I now understand why when we cleaned a shed out of my grandmas after her death she had an entire deep freeze stocked with bottles and bottles of water. It wasn't plugged in, just used as storage. But then she'd been here for 30 years and had dealt with loss of water on numerous occasions.

In really cold weather there is a danger of both
