I think we Americans really are becoming dumber than shit when I see things like this:

http://current.com/news/93017517_georgia-anti-abortion-bill-would-require-investigations-of-miscarriages.htm

I tried to find some actual newspaper or other news organization reports on this issue---but couldn't find one----so I had to rely upon several blog sites---but it is a fact that this thing is even being considered seriously by the Georgia legislature--the problem with crap like this--if it sticks in one place--the nut jobs think its a great idea and it spreads like a bad disease!!

Good Lord help us in America---Bill Maher is right--Americans really are dumber than shit!!!

Volty, there have always been Americans who are dumber than shit.

(Well...most forms of shit are completely inanimate and thus entirely incognizant...so in most cases, "dumber than shit" is slightly hyperbolic as once one reaches the intelligence level of the incognizant, one can by definition get no dumber...though we'd all do well to watch out for those hyperintelligent shits.)

(Actually, come to think of it, a redefinition of intelligence is probably in order, as something that does nothing whatsoever probably should be classified as "more intelligent" than some of the stuff we see done by humans nowadays.)

Anyway, the point is that there have always been extremely stupid Americans. The difference today is that it has become socially unacceptable (or politically incorrect, if you prefer) to ridicule, alienate, throw rotten vegetation at, or otherwise abuse very very stupid people. So it would seem that the only option for venting our annoyance with the stupid is to elect them to positions that we ourselves would *hate* to occupy...such as state legislatures. This, however, has consequences...as I hope we're all increasingly beginning to appreciate.

Perhaps we'll even reach a point some day in the near future when instead of giving a dunce a public service job, we can give them a pointy hat and make them stand in the corner...y'know...like in the old days!

Talking about attacks on reproductive rights by the new right--one of the provisions of the Wisconsin governor Scott Walker's new budget bill strips out covering for those receiving state medicare from having their contraceptives covered and also basically stops any sort of family planning.

I think it has long been clear that the "right to life" types weren't going to be happy to simply outlaw abortion---they are also out to do away with contraceptives and family planning.

Under the new proposed federal budget, they strip out any money that would go to Planned Parenthood or other organizations that provide similar services.

Women in this country get their contraception free of charge on the NHS.. abortion is also free..I can just imagine the howls if the Government tried to abolish that.. I think they would last maybe 6 months... of course if they came straight out with what they would love to do most of all.. abolish the NHS and privatise it.. they would last.. o.. about as long as it took to have parliament dissolved and an election held.. about a month I suppose..

I have a better idea.

I hereby propose a bill for the Georgia legislature recommending that Mr. Bobby Franklin be taken behind the legislature to be beaten with a rubber hose for not less than 30 minutes for introducing such a horrid piece of legislation.

All in favor?

*Admit it, my proposal makes more sense than his!*

Can it be that the 'bone of contention' is the evolved use of abortion as routine contraception?

Perhaps what we need is a constitutional amendment that would prohibit a member of the federal legislature or a state legislature from voting to restrict abortion or contraceptive rights unless they could prove that within the last three years they have become a parent naturally or by adopting a child from within the jurisdiction they represent (foreign or out-of-district adoptions would not count). In the case of an adoption, they would also be required to show that they had paid all the medical fees for the natural mother (that is medical fees related to the pregnancy and to the mother's mental health) and paid her all the wages she would otherwise have made had she been able to terminate the pregnancy early.

It's about time these idiots started being required to have a true understanding of the impact of the decisions they make. It might stop some of the weird legislation they introduce just to get a block of votes without which they couldn't have gotten elected in the first place.

Wisconsin is one of the worst places for weird laws. Here's one of their best: If two minors have a child out of wedlock and the mother applies for public assistance, they charge them both with a felony and they have to register for the rest of their lives as sex offenders.

I think the keyword is PROPOSES it will never be out of committee for a full vote even in a state where the standard foreplay is "roll over sister"

I am a pro rights person but I have always balanced that with saying I want it limited to rape, incest and malformation of fetuses that place both mother and child at risk for death.

This legislation is insane and as someone who miscarried, it takes a woman's worst heartache and blames her for it. If there is one thing we can hope for it will be that this Senator never gets the opportunity to pass on his stupid genes.

Even worse are those that only complain and do not vote. Because of them, people that should not be elected are elected.
Even worse than that are those that don't vote and don't care about those that are treated like crap and have nothing at all.
