I thought the film was ok, but a little lacking. It's fun to hear the stories from the people being interviewed but I'm not sure if the drama in some of their lives was real, or thrown in for the sake of the film. Some of the "experts" that were assembled seemed a little closed minded and I'm not sure that the film makers themselves approached the subject with the right mindset but it's still fun to watch. :2cents:

The Kids Are Alright is the one that springs to mind for me. The one lead character is pretty clearly bi, although the notion of bisexuality is never mentioned. On the one hand this seemed strange to me...on the other hand, it is also a very honest way to portray her confusion...she has no word for the fact that she has a longstanding female partner, but feels a strong sexual attraction to at least one particular man.
Anyway, I highly recommend it...you'll laugh; you'll cry; you'll think...great film.
But in general, I think bisexuals are about as present in films as they are in society. We're definitely there. Sometimes you can tell who we are. Sometimes you guess. Sometimes you'd never guess. But we rarely announce or advertise ourselves, and we have no cohesive public identity.

I think this was the movie where the guy misquoted Tears for Fears when he said TFT acknowledged the “beauty of the gay” in the song Break it down again when actually Rolland says the “beauty of decay”. But hey it was still good to see that even out in the sticks in America people are changing their views of the LGBT community. Overall it was a good show. I think Dan Savage (I think) has even changed some of his disparaging views of bisexuality.

the tears for fears part had me on the floor, i laughed so hard, maybe the fact that he "heard" those lines is evidence he's a little open minded, shall we say? :P

Ok I watched it. Thinking back on it now I noticed that it seems to me that there was alot of concentration on the female side of Bisexuality and not so much on the male side. I wonder if they had enough men that were willing to shoot the film and talk about it. All around it was an ok film. I live in New Orleans and was wondering the entire film how much they were going to work the city in. The only things they had were during Mardi Gras...kinda disapponted that they didnt cover anything about a local and only had one lady speak from Metaire, La. which is 15 min from downtown. Now I wonder if my wife will ask me about watching it, or watch it herself, when netflix sends her the e-mail to "rate" the film she just watched. We have the netflix signed up in her name. lol.
Oops... forgot one thing I did like about the film. There was a resercher, whom I think stated it best, who said that there are 3 systems in the human mind. One is "Sexual" one is "love" and one is "attraction" and sometimes not all three systems are on the same page with one person. Personally speaking I am sexualy attracted to men and women.... I love my wife but yet have a close friend, female, whom I am attracted to and want to be around and would do anything for.... I know.. sounds kinda strange aven as I type it in this box... but for some reason it seems to be true for me.

Hey talk about moves is there any movies out there are based on bisexuals that arent porn?Another great movie that shows female bisexuality is "Frida" also on net flicks.
She's mexican, a painter, a communist, and openly bisexual. And you see how she deals with her husbands infidelity. very good movie.

i know, that was my a-ha moment for me! once i wrapped my mind around those concepts, everything made sense to me, and removed any feelings of guilt or shame that in the past may arise if i'm committed yet find myself feeling things, so that and the 10 yr old boy totally made the movie so worth seeing :D

I doubt the kid is actually bisexual or gay. He's just wanting to be like his father who is a gay man and he's able to tell if a person of the same gender is attractive like straight people are able to do, even if they're not sexually attracted to the same gender at all.
.
yeah i doubt he's gay or bi as well, to me it was just a sad reflection on how important it is for boys to have their dads in their lives, and how hard divorce and not being regularly in ur kids life can be on a kid

Just watched "Brokeback Mountain" the other night for the first time.I thought it was about 2 gay cowboys, but as they both got married, it raises the question, were they bisexuals or gay. Given the time of the story, it was very dangerous to be out, and as happen, one of them was killed by gay rashers.
What do you think?

Not seen the movie. I am aware some homosexual men choose having female wives to better integrate within communities. Not placing any judgment, only observing.
Humbly, I submit a dislike of 'forbidden love' plotted stories seeming to always conclude tragically. One does not often find such tales with positive endings. Have even noticed some homosexual, bisexual writers and weavers of tales following suit of tragic demises.
Well, just some thoughts.

Maybe because life imitates art. In most forbidden love situations there is always one person that gets the shit end of the stick, and in most cases it's always the girlfriend.:2cents:

Interesting perspective for reflection. Thank you for a kind and gentle reminder to pause and do just that.
