It’s Official! Marriage Equality Passes in New York!! The New York Senate votes 33-29 and approves the freedom to marry for gay couples!

Congrats New York, but I'm also realistic. There will be court challenges soon but this is a major first step.

This is good news. Not to sound boastful, but I'm so happy to live in a country where people from border to border to border can love and marry whoever they want. Glad to read that more of our friends to the south get the same rights!

I was pleased when I heard this. At the moment marriage to anyone is the last thing on my mind, but it is nice to know that increasingly, whoever we are we may marry the person of our choice.

There are those of the opinion that the fight for equality for gay and bisexual people is not a fight for same sex marriage and they are right in one sense. It is a fight for the right of all no matter their gender or sexuality to be considered and treated equally with all. This is one more small step to that end. :)
