View Full Version : Complete Utterly Useless Rant - "And I Liked It" - Katey Perry

Where I used to work folks would play the radio. They only listened to one station, which had great aversion to playing anything save for the current top ten out of Pop. So, we had umpteen repeats of a few selected songs play every day. One was Katey Perry's _And I Liked It_, another was the whole _Raise Your Glass_, there were but a few others.
The point being though, Katey's song would would play and immediately thought became "who gives a fuck?" I mean in all honesty, kissed a guy several years to her kissing a girl. Big fucking deal, huh?
Why does there need to be such a song? And yes, I understand 'it's joyful expression", what I don't get is a need of it being blared all day over and over.
No one asked, no one really cares. Only when it becomes pure driveling mind trash, and may cause a psychotic break, does anyone say "enuff is enuff".
Apologies, just needed it out of my system. Will go back to listening to some banal new Billy Idol or maybe Twisted Sister stuff now. See? Who fucking cares?

Who the dickens are these people being mentioned?
Heph muses on a recent song from the 1930's
I'm leaning on a lamp, maybe you think I look a tramp
Or you may think I'm hanging round to steal a car.
But no, I'm not a crook although you think that's what I look
I'll tell you why I'm here and what my motives are
I'm leaning on a lampost at the corner of the street
in case a certain little lady comes by.......

Void sees Heph stuck in thirties, ponders why he isn't a decade later instead of being in the twenties.
Group rates? Yeah, sure the guys in white coats shan't mind friends. Course they'll be all week convincing me ya'll are real and not figments of their imaginations. *goes all twitchy like*

I remember when "Fraulein" came out, back in the '50s...every radio station in Florida must've played it a hundred times a day! Jerry Lee Lewis, was getting on my nerves with "Great Balls of Fire", too! Nothing was worse than Chubby Checker's "The Twist"...or Bill Haley's "Rock Around The Clock"!!
But then, I never got tired of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill", Bobby Darin's "Dream Lover", or any of Roy Orbison's songs. There was a lot of good popular stuff in the '60s/'70s..........even today.
Also liked a lot of classical music, some operas, ethnic tunes, folk music, too.
We each have different interests, I guess.

I can remember "Great Balls of Fire" The talcum powder was useless. Thankfully, Y fronts made it to the market.

I had to phone my mobile phone company this morning. Busy as usual. The music was Mozart "A little Night Music" as I waited to speak to someone. Yesterday I phoned a company about a delivery which should have happened last week. Mozart "A Little Night Music". I popped next door to return something I had borrowed from my neighbour and she was listening to Mozart's "A Little Night Music".
I love Mozart and love "A Little Night Music", but after yesterday and today not as much as I did. It does seem to be over used by companies who dont want to talk to me because these werent the first time I have phoned other companies, been held in a queue and had "A Little Night Music" playing as wallpaper music. Has no one any originality these days?

According to Wikipedia, they did! Well that's news to me. What's even more surprising is that the members of the band are still going at it albeit on separate careers and pension plans.
Fran! Pouncing Lambkin! I am the man with no age. As if I would confess that I was 51 when the original was penned in 1934. I remember 78's, 45, LP's and EP's. My aunt used to play dinnerplate heavy 78's for me on a wind-up gramaphone with steel needles and brass horn (as portrayed in the 'His Masters Voice' brand).
Sammie, Y fronts were yesteryear. Nowadays it's 'slips' (the knickers not the underdress) and 'g-strings'. The balls are still a problem. Untethered they can still generate enough friction to glow in the dark. Almost worth getting rid of them (Ew! too much information).

Bieber ... ? He that little girly thang what thinks s'okay to go tour war zones prancing lala tripe?
*makes not to self to ring Dean Koontz and schedule another van rental, wonders if group rates apply regarding two targets* "Road Trip! Some Murphy bring the Guinness, some Billy bring the smokes!"
In case not clear, Accept and doses of Ministry nullify the effects of these atrocious bubble gum frilly go pop glitz gaga songs. If speed and satanic metal as such offend, got two fingers? *grins* Least I don't resort to Venom, which is some really twisted metal, it scares me. Where Sepulchera does not, yet frightens others. *shrugs*
But if I really felt truly evil .... I would blare .... Bach!

Well DB/Void! i never really cared about Katey Perry anyway, nor have i ever listened to any of her music. she could Kiss My Ass, and "I Would Like It" LOL.
except for Madonna, Celine Dion, Enya, Alanis Morissette and Annie Lennox/Eurythmics and a few others, I don't listen to anything past the 1990s.. i really prefer the music from the 1940s-1980s.
Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Southern Rock, Soft Rock, Adult Contemporary, Classical Music, Oldies, R&B, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Dance, Techno, Synthpop, House etc....

Alanis Morissette always reminds me of a wailing banshee. Not a good or bad thing, mind. Bit odd for lobo ears but can be enthralling at times.
Like ambient techno stuff sometimes. can listen to most anything, least for a bit, except all this violent hip hoppy rap .... sorry don't need reminded of war in listening to music.
