Planning to quit smoking and get back in shape for the new year. Will start on smoking cessation now. I have grown tired of having my back playing voodoo. Will start walking once holidays are over. Also, will do other exercising. Not planning on going all out once, gradual building. Eventually, hope to feel better. Figure if I can drop fifty pounds it may help.
Anyone else have ideas for going into the new year?

Planning to cut down on smoking and lose a bit of weight to fit back in my old jeans. Good luck, Void :)

oh I am giving up smoking like I always do.... now that cigs are going up to $20-21 a pack for 30 cigs.... tho I think I will become a virgin, its easier lol :tong::tong:
seriously, I do need to give up smoking simply cos its expensive, but nobody can give me a decent reason to, wanna start properly working on the 68 camaro ss body some time in the new year, but thats a 3-4 year project..... and I wanna get onto building a complete new computer system with tweaked XP pro 64 bit OS
and yeah, need to start work on making a honest woman out of DD, party animal that she is.... I could share stories about her and a few bottles of whisky and that pink G- string....... but shes keeps threatening me with a varka:tong::tong::tong::tong:

LMAO, I am scared to ask but what is a varka?
Congrats on making an honest woman out of DD, if she swung my way I'd make a try for her :)
Good luck to all on their plans for the New Year. I plan on continuing to recover and making the most of my new situation.

Good luck Void, I quit on Jan 7, 2000 when we returned from a New Year sailing trip and have not had a cig since (was a 2 pack-a-day smoker and smoked for about 30 years).
And thanks to LDD and DD for the Varka ref, oooohhhhh!
HAPPY NEW YEAR All!

Man, if any two people ever needed to be together! Maybe things will work out for you, soon.
I keep hearing that the world's gonna end in December, 2012, so you better get busy!
Smoking: Hardest thing I ever quit. I began at 13 and smoked until I was 31, in '71. Kept patting my old cigarette pocket, felt for my lighter, long after I quit. I'm so glad I quit. Have lost several friends to lung cancer. Lost one friend to mouth cancer, from snuff, or chewing tobacco, too.
Exercise: Hardest thing I ever began. Being naturally lazy, it's hard to get motivated. My bicycle will last forever!
I thought about hiring a really big, mean, guy with a razor, to chase me every morning!
Nah, that's going too far!
Happy New Year, everybody! I may be delusional, but I wish for peace.

Having been raised in the tobacco capitol of Virginia, I started smoking at age 7. Started rubbing snuff at age 5, chewing tobacco by then as well. I picked rubbing snuff back up a bit on the last job. Not had it since then. After 33-35 years of using of the stuff, it is just time to stop. Really craving my morning smoke right now, but I'm stopping.
Motivation for exercise, lifting forty pounds hurts. Walking up and feeding the dogs makes me feel like I'll black out or explode. This adds up to being out of shape and feeling bad. Not to mention being unable to wear a wedding band due to fat fingers. Three pants sizes up in five years, not good.

Good Luck honey, exercise also seems to help relieve stress.. I'll be cheering for you! A walk every day isn't a bad thing - they say that 30 minutes a day of exercise like walking and breathing at the same time will help your heart. If you need to, start with a lower amount of time and then work your way up!
When my uncle decided to quit smoking he took all of the money he WASN'T spending on cigarettes and went on a cruise after a year.
