In Wisconsin, the official kick-off of the summer of festivals in Milwaukee, starts out with our "Pridefest" - http://www.pridefest.com/ - It is a family event. I've taken my girls to it ever since they were babies. Aside from music in the various venues, there are arts and crafts, magic shows, lectures, displays and exhibits and of course, lot's of various food delicacies.

I hadn't heard it referred to as "pridefest". The largest Pride Week near me is in Toronto. June 22- July 1. http://www.pridetoronto.com/

It does fall under the "festival category though. There are reports of a million people but there was also disputes about that. Still there are a lot of people at the final parade. Toronto's Pride Week overshadows other local cities activities but there are some in many nearby communities.

Ours is this weekend, June 9th and 10th and I will be working my Veteran's booth there. Its great, and soo much fun. Bands, entertainers, tons of terrific booths, foods of all kinds, beer garden, street fashion show, Drag Queen/King awards, Dykes on Bikes Parade and Diabetes fund raiser for Childhood Diabetes, and some fantastic people.

This year we're having the AV Pride at the Fairgrounds with free admission. I'm not certain free admission is such a good idea as last year we had the Westboro Baptist types there picketing us and Obama. I'd rather not have to see that, but it's not my event. I found out far too late I could have had my own booth there, so next year I am going to do one for the company I work for or for Bipride, possibly both. Couldn't hurt.
