No surprise there. Why do you say "Go Brasil", since he was excommunicated for speaking out for LGBT rights and same gender marriage? Roman Catholic priests answer to the Pope and Vatican and not the country or government of the country they are from. Then again Jorge the new Papa was not born in Argentina and he's Southern Italian. He's not for LGBT rights either, and he supported dictatorships and genocide that happened in Argentina.

Isn't it amazing? In the words of the article:
"The priest "injured the Church with grave statements counter to the dogma of Catholic faith and morality." The actions amount to "heresy and schism," the statement said, the penalty for which is excommunication, or expulsion from the Church."
No violation of Biblical Law, no failure to follow Biblical teachings, only a failure to follow Catholic dogma!

Be fair to the Pope. The offender was a priest, and as a priest he made a commitment to uphold the beliefs of the Church. Could you picture a rabbi keeping his post if he was seen eating a ham sandwich?

Challenging the authority of "The Church" is apparently a worse sin..
