Here is an interesting article that highlights how Bi Erasure works in subtle ways while the presentation of Bi characters in television is actually picking up. Sadly, having worked for years in the film and tv industry in LA, I feel the gay influence in the entertainment industry will see that Bi Erasure is the norm.

Read the book, Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison, a 2010 memoir by Piper Kerman.

Piper is a real person whom struggled with her sexuality, The show and the book protray that aspect of her life. The people that are practising bi erasure, are the people that do not want Piper Kernan protrayed accurately, they want a false image of a real person instead.

Thanks d jones for posting this. I have not watched the programme and so the details are not known to me. One commentator stated that the real Piper thought of herself as a lesbian until she fell in love with Larry. Was this shown in the first season? I may have to bite the bullet and order net flex...lol

I have not watched Orange is the New Black. I have watched House of Cards, a Netflix original series. There was an episode in which it was revealed that the main character had some m-m sexual contact during college. There was not much elaboration, although I think oral sex given by a friend was implied. The term bisexual was not used, nor was the concept explored. But, it was interesting to note the airtime given to the topic, however loosely, and applied to the central character.
