Hi! I hope this is okay to post here! I couldn't find any information on whether or not it was. If not please do delete. :)

I'm a bisexual researcher and PhD candidate currently trying to recruit participants for my PhD research on LGBT mental health. I'm posting here as bisexual people, particularly men, tend to be under represented in this kind of research. If anyone could take part or share it with anyone you think'd want to take part, that would be awesome! :) Anyway, here is the formal text:

"We are looking for participants of all sexual orientations (e.g., lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual) and gender identities, aged 16+ years for an online study on mental well-being. Particularly we are looking for bisexual men and transgender people as they tend to be under-represented in this kind of research. Your participation will increase our knowledge about how stress impacts mental health in sexual and gender minorities. You will be asked to complete questionnaires about your gender, sexual feelings, childhood behaviour, experiences of discrimination and prejudice, how you think, how you feel, and your thoughts about your identity. Overall, completing the online survey should last no longer than 30 minutes. The study is approved by King’s College London Psychiatry, Nursing and Midwifery Research Ethics Subcommittee (reference PNM/13/14-110). You can do the survey at the following link:

I am willing to participate as long as it is anonymous, though my responses might be constrained as I have little experience since I haven't had the freedom to explore.

How do we know you are actually a PhD. candidate or grad student?

I did take your survey but your survey tended to be geared more towards trans people than bisexuals.

After a little Google-fu, I do think this is a legit student and survey.

I agree with Pole_ smoker. It's not really a bisexual survey. Also it seems biased towards trans people being ashamed, depressed and unhappy. Not normally the case from my interactions with them.

nomorenomore, thanks for your interest, it's totally anonymous! That is all totally fine, people of all experiences are welcome to take part. If you'd like to take part the link is in my first post. :)

pole_smoker, thanks for taking part! it's an LGBT survey, so some of the questions are more about sexual minority experiences and some of them are about gender minority experiences. I've actually had some trans people say that they felt it was more geared towards sexual minorities!

You can find proof of my PhD candidate status here under "Liam Timmins":

My email is included on the first page of the survey and on this page, so if anyone would like to email that I can reply with confirmation that this is my post.

elmwood7, it's on mental health, so it asks questions relating to shame, depression and unhappiness. Many of these are standardised measures, which means they have been previously tested and verified in their effectiveness at measuring the constructs we're trying to get in touch with. There is variability in the actual data though. Not surprisingly, not everyone is ashamed, depressed and unhappy.

Also, thanks to any lurkers who took part!
