Been seeing quite a few guys on Squirt, Manhunt, etc.. looking to play with others. In their profile, the state that they’re on “PReP”
What are your thoughts when seeing this?

I read "I'm on PReP" as "I bareback". And I avoid guys who bareback.
Not a judgement, just policy.

PReP does not protect against any other STDs. Just that one.

Given that, I am really glad that PReP exists, and that so many guys use it.

Alot of guys love to seek just any random stranger so prep gives them a free pass to do it without the risk of HIV, i see someone is on it, i leave their profile!

I’ve seen lots of those posts as well.
I think it’s important to take precautions, and get knowledge.
Prep is an awesome game changer where previously sex in an HIV risk situation was equated to a death sentence.
I’m all for safer sex, and it scares me to see how many men do nameless hookups, condoms or not, there is a risk. This adds a significant layer of risk abatement. All good.

The other potential STI’s is just as significant, and that is actually being tracked as on the rise through the CDC. Of course bi and gay men are being scapegoated for that rise, blaming PrEP usage as an indicator that people are not using other protections. I wonder if they simply are getting medicine without discussing the situation with their Dr?

I am less affected by an ad listing PrEP than I am by one that says Discreet or down low. Those are two red flags that usually indicate the contact is lying, to someone significant in their life, and has no trust level to believe they are really on prep, use condoms, or recently tested negative for any STI.

Ok, thanks :)

I don't know why anyone would ask a question in a discussion forum, that is better asked of Google.

"PRep" is not a drug, it is a treatment regimen.

Google says...

Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a way for people who do not have HIV but who are at substantial risk of getting it to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. The pill (brand name Truvada) contains two medicines (tenofovir and emtricitabine) that are used in combination with other medicines to treat HIV.

I am not into anal to begin with but when I see Prep in an add I am not going to hook up with that person. Clearly thy are into bareback sex with multiple partners, high risk behavior. Not what I am looking for.

Personally, I think too many people view PreP as a free-pass to do unsafe things. I demand condoms for penetration with men, period. I try not to judge people, but that strikes me as a red-flag for concern..

I wouldn't avoid someone who is on PrEP. You can still require the use of condoms. I always play safe, yet still asked the doctor about it as an additional precaution (what if the condom breaks?). Didn't go on it though. Doc said it would be too rough on my kidneys.

Interesting comments. I do not do anal and like several others would be cautious about anyone who actually adverstises that they are on PREP.

Why would guys promote that they are on prep if others see it as a danger sign?

It implies "I bareback".

I do not understand?
Posting that you use PREP means that the guy on prep will bareback?

Guys who want to bareback will go with a guy who uses PREP knowing that he won't get HIV? So, if you have HIV and want to bareback, your best bet is to have sex with a guy on PREP?

or is there some other rationale?

It implies "I bareback".
For me it implies that he takes care of not getting HIV and should be safe (not talking about other diseases that you can get from oralsex and that a lot of guys do, even if they use condoms for anal)

Prep is for the guys who delight in sex with just any random strangers they can find, for guys who seek more ass then a toilet seat gets!! I wont even bother with them, I have to get to know and trust someone first!

One more of the many red flags showing probability of getting AIDS or other problems. I see many with wives at home saying on Prep....
