For me its coming out as lesbian.... I think it was always clear to me and my friends that I am a lesbian considering I don't like talking about guys in a sexual way and I make anti-guy comments too. lol
A silly poll I did on a few of my friends from here, they all agreed Im a lesbian and not bisexual :-) However it was THIS SITE that helped me realize my sexually and Im happy... I also feel at home here too and have met many wonderful people :-)

I think it depends on the individual and the people surrounding you. I think gay/lesbian are terms that are easier to understand, if perhaps harder to accept. Bisexuality tends to lend hope to friends and family that one day you might regain your senses and go straight. To others, its a cop out for those who are afraid to dip both toes into homosexuality.
When I came out to my mom, her only comment was "Well, I'd rather you were bi than be a lesbian."

It probably depends on each person's situation.
For me, I think it is easier to come out gay or lesbian because you don't have to deal with people thinking you are not capable of having a monogamous relationship.

It saddens me to have to agree glantern954........i wish society was more accepting of bisexuality....but the truth is most of society is more accepting of being gay and lesbian......maybe thats why we have a moral obligation to get out there be seen and fight for the rights of the bisexual as well as educate society about who we are........ But oh god thats a huge scary task that for me at the moment feels a little overwhelming.
If you look at some of the misconceptions about gay and lesbian that were around fifty years ago tho they are the same misconceptions that we now face as bisexuals. The gay and lesbian community have fought hard for acceptance and their rights and perhaps the only way we will achieve a level of acceptability is to do the same
Laugh out loud
I will get off my political soapbox now

it would be really hard for me to come out as a lesbian...
because of my penis and all...
other that that? i think telling any kind of truth depends on your environment and the people around you. i've known parents who would rather their daughter bring home a woman than a black man.
