Nice to see one media outlet not engaging in sensationalism, and carrying some positive remarks by scientists:

I've been to Oslo to visit Norwegian friends, but I think this is a 1st ... Thank you for the post, Joe!
I'm always glad to find scientific evidence of homosexualism and bisexualism in nature. When I cite or comment cases of such behaviour in the animal world, listeners lift their brows in shock and disapproval. Nevertheless whatever the reason, the fact is that lots of homosexualism cases have been reported and documented, while cases of bisexualism are also known, but seem not so well studied or documented.
It says homosexuality has been observed among 1,500 species, and that in 500 of those it is well documented.
The exhibition - entitled Against Nature? - includes photographs of one male giraffe mounting another, of apes stimulating others of the same sex, and two aroused male right whales rubbing against each other.
"Homosexuality is a common and widespread phenomenon in the animal world," says an exhibition statement.
"Not only short-lived sexual relationships, but even long-lasting partnerships; partnerships that may last a lifetime."
We hope to reject the all too well known argument that homosexual behaviour is a crime against nature
Oslo Natural History Museum
I love the fact that they speak also about bisexualism, and I find shocking or maybe revealing that "in some animals the whole species is bisexual", as the exhibition says, giving bonobo chimpanzees as an example.
Apart from some expected controversy on that exhibition, there has been some gay outrage at a north German zoo's plans to test the sexual orientation of six male penguins which have displayed homosexual traits. Bremerhaven's Zoo am Meer said it would introduce four extra female penguins from Sweden to the group to see if the males really were gay:

I happened to hear that report on the BBC World Report--I am glad that this information is getting some widespread coverage--a few years ago a I had seen a documentary about the sexual behavior of different animal species on some program.
The documentary did go into some detail about the fact that many animal species do engage in homosexual/bisexual behavior.
Not long ago I also listened to a radio program about people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual living in the rural areas of Indiana and Kentucky outside of Louisville.
People who were GLBT who chose to live in such a place, not hardly an area very accepting of such catagories, were interviewed about why they still wanted to live there.
The most interesting little snippet from the program--the father of one of the women was interviewed-in his slow drawly accent---he talked about the fact his daughter is gay-I can't recall his exact words, but he said something that went like this. (he was very accepting of his daughter's gayness)
"I am an old farmer--anybody whose been around animals for a time know full well they do things like that--its natural!"
When I heard that I had wished I had been recording that show---words of wisdom from an old timey farmer who lives in a place hard fast along the Ohio deep in Bible Belt country--he was a member of one of those little non-denominational churches located in a "holler" that you find in places like southern Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennesseee.
The old man said it---animals having sex with others of the same gender is not unnatural---it is a regular occurance in the animal world.
It gets me that so many of the folks who hold to the view that gay/bisexual behavior is unnatural and some kind of evil thing--they must just reject what their eyes tell them--but then again---as I have said in a previous posting:
To these folks--they don't let things like reality get in their way (for we all know, reality has a liberal bias) and they pretty much go by the dictum of--"don't confuse me with the facts--my mind is made up already!!!!"
