I know SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE has a comment about this film. It's a hell of an epic.

For those who have missed it: 300 is a film adaptation of a Graphic Novel by Frank Miller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Miller_%28comics%29),which retells the battle of Thermopylae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae), a "last stand" in which about 1300 Greek soldiers (1000 from Thespis, 300 from Sparta, from which the film gets its name) hold a narrow pass (Called the "Hot Gates" in the film. . .ya'll can make the dirty jokes later) off from the Persian Army, which outnumbered the Greeks in every way.

Every shot is perfect, you can see the pages of the novel turn.

But of course, most everyone is thinking about something else....

Gerard. Fucking. Butler. Oh, my god, this man is something else! No wonder all the UK members wanted to keep him to themselves! Yeah, the script of 300 was a little overwrought in places (but it's a popcorn flick, so it's somewhat okay) but Butler makes every word very important, and you take him SERIOUSLY, which is hard to do when you're wearing this:

Prepare for glory, indeed . . .<drool>

So, anyone else see it? Anyone else WANT to see it? Anyone want spoilers or someone to watch the movie with because they need companies to share teh hawt?

"Thermopylae" is Greek for "hot gateway."

Which only makes it even better! <g>

The dirty jokes about "Hot Gateway" have commenced. Either way, I saw at least 5-6 gateways I really wanted to take, either by tongue or other means... :tong:

I actually didn't want to see it at all but i went for the sake of getting a date and ended up liking the movie better than the date! I was very pleasantly suprised by the movie. I loved the stylization of the movie and how the music was done. and nothing was really better than the guy sitting behind us making hilarious commentary the entire time.

Taylor, you've got me interested in seeing the movie. All innuendoes aside, I rarely go to movies anymore. Most of what is released these days is too much heavy drama. If I wanted cinema-verite, I'd stay home and watch the news...that is, if I had a TV.

But a good popcorn flick, that's more my style! I watch movies to be entertained and informed, not depressed. And movies were so much more enjoyable bfore the Entertainment Industry morphed into the Ministry of Propoganda and Moralizing.

I'm sure Joseph Goebbels would be proud.

Same thing here. The movie was alright. I think that some of the one liners cheapened it. The visual aspects were amazing.
Im usually the person who HATES when people talk during a movie. But I really didn't mind the guy a couple of seats down from us. There is one line in the movie where the queen of sparta says something along the lines of "Because only Spartan women give birth to real men" and the guy down from us said "Dayuum right. I know I cain't!" It was classic.

I can't wait until the DVD comes out. My fiance and I have already come up with a drinking game for this movie. Every time someone says "Sparta/Spartan"...take a drink. Every time there is a huge speach...take two drinks. Every time you see blood...take a drink.
Should be fun.

Heh... I couldn't help it. But if you hate it, that's not my fault. :tong:

Just think of Gerard Butlers... hot gates. ;)
