Whats the name of the yellow allergy pill?!?!
I was just thinking how many things I have eaten lately that had a stupid warning label :) Im allergic to peanuts but EVERYTHING seems to have a "may contain" warning on it... including new warnings on my favortie foods. (And no, I refuse to give up my favortie foods lol)
So since I was thinking that, I thought it would be handy to have allergy pills on hand. :-)
When I was younger there was a brand of pills I took every time I accidently ate something I was allgeric to and it helped.
They were in a box and its a yellow pill (tasts awful too) I haven't had this since 1999 so I don't remember the name :(
Does anyone know what Im talking about and can provide the name?? I can't find it but maybe Im not remembering the name properly.... or maybe they changed the pills. (When I had a allergy test done, I was given what looked like a pink allgery pill afterwards)
It was a pill you could take for food allergies.
Any help would be great thanks!
Tasha
PS No worries, I just want them on hand in case I ever had an allergy reacation :)

Tasha,
I believe that the pill in question is Benadrill. It is indeed hot pink and tiny. I am a caterer and I keep them in all of the first aide kits that all employees take on jobs with them. They are a wonderful stop gap measure and I have seen them save a life. But PLEASE, check with YOUR doctor first.

Okies :) but what kind?? I saw Bendryl at the local drug store (not Chlor tho) but there were so many Bendryl ones lol Which package? or any one?
I want the pink ones... the yellow pill is gross tasting and tastes like death.
lol (bad aftertaste that stays for hours no matter what you drink or eat to mask the taste)

No offense, I understand what you are saying, but I happen to have a bottle of little yellow pills in my cabinet that are a store brand that say just that :)
Seems you need to be very careful you pick up the right thing

ok ok
chlortrimetron is for non food allergies mostly..things like hay fever and such..[ your lil yello pill]
benadryl works for bee stings etc too...
but tasha, hon, see your doc and get YOUR EPI PENS UPDATED!! with your food allergies, as serious as they are, [ trust me i have a coworker with the same troubles and we almost accidently killed the sot cause he DIDNT TELL US] you need to have them handy all the time..
until 5 years ago i had to carry one for my bee sting allergies , cause as a grounds keeper at a cemetary as a teen, i hit a nest of ground wasps with the soddy mower, and got stung over 300 times.. add in my allergy to strawberries, and well, you get the picture, right??

I have to ask...are you ALLERGIC to the food when you eat it and get difficulty breathing, a rash like hives and terrible itchy in the skin, pain in the joints? if that's what you are getting then there is NO pill fast enough to help you. Like Rich said you have to get a pen that inject Epinepherine.
However, if all you get is an upset stomach and or problems with a bowel movement, a headache or nausea, that might be food INTOLERANCE which a pill can help. Namely enzyme pils. I'd ask your doctor what it is you took.

I do have EPI PENS and carry that with me all the time.
I just wanted to have the allergy pills since they do help sometimes.. and I just use the EPI PENS for the more serious food allergies.

Thank goodness one can not only get them without an RX, but they are inexpensive, powerful, and I have saved a life or two with them. They are a staple in our medicine cabinet and first aid kits
