ALERT: bi immigrants & bisexual bi-national families doubly discriminated against

Dear Bi/Bi-Inclusive Friends,

I just took action on an issue of real significance to a lot of families, and I hope you'll join me.

Nineteen (19) other countries recognize same-sex couples committed to spending their lives together as 'families' for immigration purposes - and the US, shamefully, does not. That means US citizens and legal residents can't sponsor their same-sex partners from other countries, a basic right other Americans enjoy.

Did you know that Bisexual people are being singled out for scrutiny?

A woman in New Jersey who obtained her green card when married to her husband may have her status revoked because immigration officials are claiming that since after her divorce she fell in love with a woman, the previous marriage was false and done only for green card purposes. They are trying to scuttle her application for citizenship and revoke her green card.

She is bisexual and perfectly capable of falling in love with someone from any gender. She is not allowed to sponsor her partner who is from her homeland of Brazil and the US won't even allow her partner into the country to visit.

Despite the fact that she has a good job and a home in NJ and her desire and application for American citizenship, they are considering emigrating to Canada where they hope they would be able to reunite.

Well I did it--if that message goes to Rep. Mike Turner and its not something of the Republican Party or from Geo W. Bush he can rubber stamp---its hardly worth your effort to send him anything--his office does not even respond even if you send a written letter--you might get a post card then with a canned thing saying "thanks for your comments" if you are lucky---

So much for representative democracy!!!!

Same pretty much goes for Senator George Voinovich----

We do finally have a Democratic Senator once again--but I have yet to see if his office responds to anything that is sent his way.

I do have to credit Mike DeWine--who was our senior US Senator-a Republican who did lose his seat last year--I always got a response from his office on everything I sent to his office on any issue--he might not have voted as I liked--and he often rubber stamped Bush's crap--but at least ya got something acknowledging your email, letter or phone call!!!

Thanks for another great post on an important issue--it figures our country would try to screw bisexual immigrants in particular and immigrants generally---we seem to have forgotten that this is a country of immigrants---and that idea ballyhooed about by some conservative politicians about trying to send each and everyone of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants "back to where they came from" sounds like such a great idea but hey--we only have like a few more than a milllion police officers in the country and they can't control the other crimes we have going on every day.

In America, we currently have one of the highest incarceration rates in the world with over 2 million people in some kind of lock up situation--where the hell are you going to put 12 million people as you out process them for deportation?? and how much money is that going to cost???--and who the heck is gonna do all of the crap jobs for crap pay that we "born here Americans" won't do???--and how many cops are we gonna need in order to arrest 12 million people??? (give or take a few hundred thousand or so) Are we gonna have a police state then???????????????????????

Let's face facts---This country's economy will grind to a screeching halt if we COULD somehow get rid of all of the immigrants---we'd have a depression to make the one in the 20s and 30s look like a high society soiree....

And ya wonder why I think so many of those on the conservative side of the ledger are a bunch of loonies.....!!!!!!!!!!

They come up with things like this, things that appeal to the emotions but in fact--- make no real damn sense at all---

This isn't really a liberal/conservative thing-its just a matter of reality and practicality--

Hell --I say--for each and every immigrant already here--they are here and they aren't gonna go away-- I say give them a mass fast track to citizenship so we can collect their taxes and such --and make use of their productivity--they are not a bunch of slackers-

The last few years-we have had to reroof all of our condos--and at first we had this contractor with an all American crew--they took a month to do one damn roof--the board cancelled the contract--got a guy who has crews of workers from El Salvador, Mexico and elsewhere---man-those guys showed up on the site and at 7:30 am it was "assholes and elbows"--with those guys totally busting ass as we used to say in the Coast Guard--they "turned to" and fixed the fucked up job the drunk and high American guys had barely done--in a few hours and by nightfall, had the old material stripped off a second building and most of the bad OSB underlayment board replaced and had the black paper down--

We had so many units to do--the condo association could only do two buildings at at time every few months-but they did a great job finishing up the work over about 18 months are so.

For another example of Mexican worker productivity-- I had a friend who served as his own contractor buidling his own house on Hilton Head Island, SC---most of the laborers on the job were Mexicans including stucco people and tile layers--- they did great quality work in short order---so don't go saying that the "beaners" and such are a bunch of slacker worthless so and sos-one Mexican can bust ass more than ten Americans can or will do--hell--most of the American guys who tend do this kind of job only want to do a few other things other than laying roof--get drunk and high, smoke ten packs of cigs a day, maybe watch NASCAR on the tube or in person, hang with their buds and get laid....and they don't care if they come to work still buzzing if they come in at all!!!! and ohh yeah--they do have to go see the Probation Officer every Monday and what money they don't drink or smoke up--"they gotta pay the old lady fuckin' alimony and child support!!!"

Shit--I do some Manpower assignments from time to time and nowadays--most of the folks you meet on the jobs are Mexicans and such and they work rings around the American Manpower temps--myself included--I don't want to work as hard as they do--do you????????

Ya want to pick tomotoes or strawberries or wine grapes 12 hours a day six days a week out in the hot sun????? or cut up Tyson chickens or all of the other wonderful jobs those folks do???? I sure as hell don't!!!!!!

Do ya want to eat???? Get your house built?? Get your mailers from Social Security and such--that is what I did one time last year for Manpower--worked for a company doing bulk mailings for the US government and many companies--it was mostly Mexicans working in those jobs and they knew what they were doing--all of us stupid Manpower temps didn't know our you know what's from our you know whats!!!! LOL

Sorry for the rant--but it felt gooooooddddd!!!!
