I just wondered if anyone else besides myself takes their dog to places like PetsMart and let them walk around and interact with other dogs ? I do at least a couple times a month, for one its one of the best place to get good dog food and healthy treats, but at the same time my weener man gets to socialize. Im pretty sure he has a wonderful time at least he acts like it. Only embaressing part is that he pisses a couple of times inside lol But ive been told not to worry about that, he's just marking his spots like male dogs tend to do. It makes for a fun trip. If anyone else has any other ideas about treating your dog to a day out Id like to hear.

You have a wiener dog?! I think they are great! (A little stubborn though) My ex took our 2 dachshunds when she left. I really miss those dogs.
Yes, she liked to take them into Petsmart to shop, and one of them always managed to leave a "present" in the middle of the isle. She thought it was funny. I was embarrassed. I don't have any pets now.
One thing I can say about wiener dogs is that people will approach you to visit about your dogs who would not talk to you otherwise. Walking your dog is a good way to meet people. They can also be very protective to their owner. When I would try to romp the the wife, the dogs would get upset and try to nip at my butt. We had to put them out of the room and close the door.

I had 2 dogs for a long time but recently lost both my cat and 1 dog to old age..
The circle of life...
My remaining dog, like all his predecessors comes everywhere he legally can with me. He comes into the bank, Home Depot, most all hardware stores, job sites, peoples homes, in various cars and trucks to get around and yes PetSmart too!! ;).
We go to the local well used leash free zone in the park weekly as well as off leash walks in the forest trails behind my condo. He is half Newfie half Shepard, well trained and polite. A good friend.

Well, LynnAnne, you know 'Newbie and I have a wiener dog too. We've taken her to PetSmart (she piddled there too in an aisle LOL), but that was right after we got her and she was scared. We walk her a lot around our apartment complex and she "meets" other dogs there, but she really doesn't like meeting with other dogs - she is kind of timid. Now that's she's finally had all of her shots, we are going to start taking her to the dog park so she can romp without having her leash on. Once in a while we've taken her to the park across from our complex and let her off the leash if no one is around, but it's near a busy street and she's gotten startled and tried to run. When we're on our walks in the complex, we are always stopped by people who want to talk about Bella and pet her and talk to us...She's shy/timid but also protective of us (I think a lot of her shyness/timidness was that she was most likely mistreated before 'Newbie and I rescued her from the pound). She's also found a way to play with our cat - she'll run around the livingroom around the recliner and try to "entice" the cat to chase her...it's hysterical!

I don't have a dog--got a few cats--but if I did--I would sure bring he or she along with me to as many places as possible--one of these days I guess I will finally get myself one.
I have a cat that is almost like a dog---if I could get him on a harness--I might start taking him along---his name is Buddy and that is a good name for him---he wants to be everyone's friend!! He was a stray that adopted me--so I don't know about his early life-he is almost dog like, so he must have been raised around them.

Buddy is just beautiful. My cat, Tasha, is all black - she thinks she's the Princess...Bella, our wiener dog, is a red Dachshund.

I have a 110 pound Great Dane / Labradore Retriever mix. Our play dates normally mean a trip to the local dog park to play with the other kids.

A few months ago, I got a two-year-old Jack Russell. My first dog. He's great. :)
He doesn't like other dogs so much, though...

I have Mariah, a huge golden doodle. Her momma was a golden retriever and her daddy was a black standard poodle and she's all black and curly, so I tease that her daddy was a big black man. :tong: She jumps the fence to go play with the neighbor's dog and they have doggie slumber parties and play like mad every chance they get. She loves people and unfortunately thinks everyone needs a full body hug, the kids love them, so everyone else must too, right?

When I had the cutest doxie around, she went everywhere with me but the grocery store. She rode in the cart at Staples or Lowes and encouraged everyone to pet her. The doodle gets car sick so she doesn't go many places.
Right after I got the doxie, my stepbrother said I had become a middle aged divorcee with a little dog. I said, "add fat and frumpy to that and I'll kick your ass."
