Since both of thes ships are aircraft carriers I doubt that their floating prisons. They wouldn't be efficient or have facilities to be prisons. Not to mention the fact that their full of planes, helicoptors , missiles and missile launchers. Unfortunately, it is very likely to be true.

We live in the greatest country in the world, but like all nations, we have our dirty little secrets. Most of them are white-washed for public consumption like the massacre at Wounded Knee, the real story of the Pilgrims and the real story of the atrocities committed by the Spaniards under Columbus' command, the treatment of the Japanese during WWII, etc. And don't get started on the "patriot act", the variety of things that have been surfacing about 9-11 that the public has forgotten about thanks to the "war on terror", which has yet to capture enough terrorists to make it cost-effective (there are better methods available than unnecessarily invading sovereign nations).

We have a whole series of Homeland Security prison camps spread throughout this country. They claim that they are for housing illegals from INS raids, but they have yet to put any illegals there for processing and the border patrol is already prevented from effectively stopping the influx of illegals. Another Bush legacy, btw.

Because of things like that, this country is fast becoming something that would have our founding fathers rolling over in their graves.

When all of those things are cleaned up and set right, then we can go back to being the great country that used to garner respect throughout most of the world.

We, and I say WE with respect of naming all western civilizations of the so called "free world", have been at war, whether some chose to admit it or not with a radical fanatical form of religion, since moses with those who would "kill the infidels" or any one that does not conform to their beliefs (and even some who do).
So why should we give constitutional rights to non-citizens of the United States. WE SHOULD'NT!:mad: Those that are detained are done so as suspected or factual enemy combatants and are treated as such until proven otherwise. Innocent until proven guilty is a facet of a US citizen's constitutional rights, not that of an enemy.
So what that they are held at high seas, while being interrogated. If the info that is extracted is valuable in thwarting a terrorist attact that could save virtually hundreds or thousands of lives, it was well worth it.
Once spoken in a fictional setting, yet it was spoken with absolute clarity;

When people commit atrocities against others in time of war, they are called WAR CRIMES. Regardless of what country is doing what, its still WAR CRIMES. No one said anything about giving criminals rights of United States citizens ( just like no one in any other country wanted to give our POWs the rights of their countries--regardless of countless wars...)

There are, as well all know, RULES of war. Given that alone, considering Geneva Conventions and so forth, when a country or countries ( regardless of WHO THEY ARE) breaks said such rules, that is called a WAR CRIME.

Now, the stereotypical United States mentality is, "Damn the consequences, your rules dont matter only ours do"... but let something like that happen ( like it HAS for YEARS--ie Vietnam, Korea, even Germany, et al) where a country or countries go against human rights laws, and rules of war, and then this country gets their collective panties in a bunch screaming "GENEVA CONVENTIONS!!!" and " WAR CRIMES COMMISSION!!!"

Acutally one of the ships is an LDH and the other is an LHA. Both are large deck amphibious assualt ships, and both have short term brigs onboard. Short term meaning they cannot hold prisioners over a certain number is days, no matter what their status. Even though these ships have brigs. the story makes no sense. The ships have other mission more important than floating around being a "floating prision." That would cost the Navy a shit load of money they do not currently have. I agree it would make a great Tom Clancy movie.

This war, as I stated previously, is one that is being waged against western civilization since time immemorial. The "Jihad" was begun in years untold BC.

Like the ole British Empire, an those of the French, Dutch, Uncle Tom Cobbly an all... the US deludes itsel that it is civilisin the world wile rippin it off an oppressin so much of it... an on its coat tails r the ole self same British an French an Dutch an god knos who else x Imperialists an more.. spesh the Brits me shamed 2 say...

Until the west realises it jus cant keep on jus doin wtf it likes nowt will change Doggie... it will always havta face peeps who h8 it an r prepared 2 act in horrifically violent ways... it neednt b so.. the tragedy is that its how western govts like it cos it means they can carry on cos most of us in the west think like em... we let em an we shud b bloody ashamed of ourselves.. until we respect otha cultures..they not eva gonna hav ne time for us...

It is the huge world power an is so one sided in its support of Israel that it is a block 2 progress in findin a solution. The Europeans, the British included try 2 b more constructive an balanced in ther treatment of the middle east situation but it is often hampered by a shizophrenic approach, in particular by the British.
