Fingermen on the wire, eh?

Damn. Shame they put me out to retire. I say hoist the colours & haul together. They going to black bag everyone?

Probably unrelated but read a bit about how Casio watches are being used as evidence folks are terrorists. One of the GITMO detainiess rightly pointed out. "Even the United States soldiers wear these watches, they're cheap and durable. So are those soldier terrorists, too?"

I get a laugh every time I read the definition of terrorism.

'The systematic use of fear as a tool for political / social / religious groups in an effort to attain a goal.'

The reason I laugh? Well, any form of government is nothing if not a system. They do use fear to effectively achieve gaols. Most recently here in the States, we had the gas shortage scare from Ike hitting. The government was supposed to have released some petro from our emegency reserves but has of yet done so. The fear comes from the objective lesson offered by Katrina. "Look the government botched that and hired out mercenaries to suppress folks in LA."

We remember what happened and then see a new hurricane come in. No wonder we get scared and bolt out to buy up a surplus of gas to 'get by'. Thus, yeah we suddenly have a gas shortage. "Oh fucking no! Everyone run to the hills!"

And now there's a global freeze on credit. The U.S. is also bringing soldiers home from Iraq to act as police. Anyone recalling Kent State, we'll make that look like a Sunday stroll in a tranquil park come November. Weather Obamma wins or looses doesn't matter. The C.I.A's ban on poloitical assissination was lifted. Meaning if 'more of the same' wants the upstart offering hope zeroed out, done deal.

(Sigh)

Maybe some day an old dude from a high mountain top will come to me and explain it all. Until then, kiss my ass fingermen!

Voidy, could you post a link to where you got that info?

Because, unless they repealed the Posse Commutatus Act, then unless martial law is enacted or there is a catastrophic and localized emergency (hurricane, Earthquake or other natural disaster), the military cannot perform policing duties on the civilian population here in the US, except for the aforementioned localized instances.

It is prevented from happening under the Posse Commutatus Act.

Even when the National guard are activated for emergencies, they have to be accompanied by a police officer in order for any arrest to take place.

Any officer worth his commission, in the US military, that would receive those orders from the White House would know that it is an unlawful order and would not comply; is in no way, compelled to comply, under the UCMJ, which makes very clear that no member of the US Armed forces is legally compelled to comply with orders that are unlawful, out of compliance with the rules of engagement, in violation of US law, or immoral, based on those laws and regulations (such as ordering the torture and execution of prisoners).
