I recall there was a longer version, but...
Early one morning, late one night
Two dead boys came out to fight.
Back to back they faced one another
drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
and shot to death, the two dead boys.
And if you think these lies are true
Just ask the blind man, he saw it too.
certainly there were several versions, but I remember someone from Iowa or Kansas, years ago, spouting many additional contradictory couplets on this.

Here's the version I recall ....

BTW... google kind of sucks... as of lately... would you agree?
Google was always great for me until recently...
Maybe it's time for a new search engine.

Google has become the 100,000 pound gorilla of the internet---they will crush anyone new now--amazing that someone started that company just a bit more than a decade ago and it has become a huge corporation--bigger than GM, Ford and Chrysler combined----even before all of the "Big Three" hit this current economic storm and are about to all go away---at least only remain in the most bare bones way.
I do like the poem--what is the history of this work???
