Good morning ya'll! Did you have a good Thanksgiving?? I did...
It was great. It started out with just three of us and that was nice.
T'was to be a kick back day of food, and movies, and that was alright
by me. We had turkey (Naturally)--my home made cornbread stuffing, white corn, collard greens and bacon, mashted taters and gravy, biscuits, a
veggie tray and Strawberry Daqueries that would've curled your hair
with goodness! And for dessert there was Devils Food cake and
Marionberry pie and whipped cream.
And you know that life with me
isnt just a jaunt, its an adventure..*Rolling eyes*
Just as I'm making gravy, I poured some chicken stock into my rue,
and the steam rose a little...setting off the damn fire alarms in the
house..and the damn things werent even hooked up! They were the
battery operated kind. So contending with the ear shattering
BEEPBEEPBEEP, and trying to make perfect gravy, which I didnt, I
almost burned the bisquits. I then went to carve the turkey and to my
delight, discovered that it fell off the bone when I began. In fact,
I was going to move a leg aside to cut down into the dark meat, and
the bone popped right out, whole. Now That's a tender bird!
Jeff was making Strawberry Daq's and was making them according to
directions. Wellll, Ms. Pam says, "Lemmie see" and as he is holding
the neck of the bottle, she tips up the Bottom of the bottle and all
I hear behind me is "Glug, glug, Glug"
Needless to say, those were some mighty potant Daqueries, but OMG
were they good!
So we ate, then nestled back to watch movies the rest of the
afternoon. It was wonderful. I'm watching the movie and hear two set of snores beside me in the other chairs...Thats how you tell your guests have nice full tummies. LOL
Then later the doorbell rang and in popped my Brianna and Sandy who
watched the end of Hancock with us. When it was over Bri says in that
sweet lil babydoll voice, "Is there any Mama left overs in the
kitchen?"
Left overs? In My kitchen? Of course. I always make enough to feed an
Army. lol She said she had had dinner elsewhere but knew mine would be much better. (Evil little thing) lol.
When she discovered that there were greens, there was no containing
her..lol. So she fixed a plate and Sandy had Devils food and whipped
cream. The whipped cream bottle will never be the same again...It was so worth all of the cooking to see everyone eating and hearing those
little Mmmmmmm's of approval, and "Damn, thats good!" That does a cook's heart good, and I was a very happy Mama.
They left, and the remaining three of us adjorned upstairs to watch
Survivor, and when Ms. Pam was heading out, Jerry and Dawn was at the
front door. Fresh Daq's were made, cake doled out. Left overs piled on plates and sent home. :}
This was Such a fantastic time, I had some of my babies with me at Thanksgiving, and I was Very thankfull for it!
Hope yours was filled with much fun, laughter fantastic food and tons of love!
Happy Cat;)
