Yes, here's to hoping a much better year next year! A couple of weeks ago I had a small gas fireplace installed in my living room. It's quite comfortable and cute. My mother is from England and has all kinds of traditions that seem oddball to the local folks. One is that a cricket on your hearth brings luck, so I put her old brass cricket on top of the gas fireplace.

As for celebrations, I have my girls tonight. We're having a slumber party with their friends. We'll be serving cherry sparkling juice when the ball drops. :bigrin:

I hope y'all are surrounded by friends and loved ones as 2009 comes in.

Lucky you. I heard that Scottish New Year is the party to end all parties.

Sadly, my love is working til 9 tonight and just had a very intrusive medical proceedure (outpatient), so she may not be quite up to going out after work tonight.
But if she is up to it, we have an invite to a friend's house for their party.
