A Movie Recommendation: "Milk"

I did not catch this movie during the time of its theatrical release--but this evening I saw it is being currently offered on ON Demand so I played it--and I am sure that means the DVD is in the stores or on NetFlix.

It was a very well done movie and Senn Penn--while even for me--I don't always agree with his politics---did a great job portraying Harvey Milk as did the movie in portraying that time and place---1970s San Francisco before it became the gay friendly mecca it is today--and Milk was largely responsible for that being the case.

If you haven't seen the movie---do see it no matter the way you access your movies--it is well worth seeing.

I'll second that. I'll admit that I'm biased as I know many of the people involved in the production as well as some of the people whom the movie was based upon. But still, Sean Penn is AMAZING. This is definitely a movie worth watching. Regardless of political affiliation or sexual preference.

Really? I thought that it was a good movie, but I didn't agree with the political message of the movie. I also understand that the movie was meant more to reaccount the history of that time as opposed to "send the perfect political message." Thus, it's not 100% fair for me to judge it based upon that.

I guess I'd say watch it for what it is and enjoy it as such. Please, please, please, don't watch it for its politics.

It brought home to me how very difficult it has been for some of us to simply obtain some degree of tolerance.

I'm remembering a post you made on the comments section of a certain newspaper....the comments being inreply to a letter you had written. Some one had mentioned the theatrical production of Milk, and you made some comment that suggested that if you had known it was in the area, you would probably have made some derogatory remark about it.

You don't like films! Or theatre...or anything that is a dramatised production of any kind....whether it be about a real event of fictional!

You went to see Valkyrie and wished you had not been to see it. I don't believe you cried at the end of any film. You probably haven't been to see it!

After all you like the reduced price pensioner days, where you get free popcorn...and the only film you have shown any enthusiasm about was Mamma Mia!!!

And the last sentence of your post...like the rest....I'd take with a pinch of salt. You're an actor.

BrotherJack please! I have taken the point of fact from your various posts on the thread "A question about the bible" that you know AdamKadmon43 personally and apparently very well. But I must ask a favor of you. Please stop asassinating him on EVERY post he makes. You two obviously have issues and while there is nothing at all wrong with lively debate, debassing someone on every remark and post is growing tiresome and annoying. I enjoy coming on here to view and participate in the lively debates - but I think your character asassinations have gone on long enough. If you feel that strongly about him and he really annoys you THAT much - do YOURSELF a favor and hit the iggy button and prevent yourself from seeing his posts and getting that frustrated. But please for all of our sakes - enough is enough already! LW

Of course he annoys me, I care about the insufferable man! I would never ignore Adam. I am now dealing with him in a polite and businesslike manner.....if a little terse!

Freedom of speech..and the person I am.....will not allow me to see him post things that attack people in such a manner, that he sounds like the people he hates......nor will it allow me to see him tell what i believe untruths. If you wish to have him tell you a bunch of lies and don't care about that.....then I have to sorrow for you. I know there are plenty who don't like liars. I am one of them!

For all our sakes....I will take him....or anyone else...on this site or any other....to task. I am that sort of person.

PS. I think I posted things on the Bible forum, that did not have anything to do with Adam the Kadmon...cos guess what....religion...as a subject...is a passion of mine.....but not an obsession as it is with someone else. I have other interests too!
