I got this in the mail a bit ago, and had to Really bite my tongue from replying to the person who sent it to me. I dont like getting into religious discussions in the first place.
I havent done a search on Snopes.com, so I dont know how valid this info is. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard about this?

Subject: The Movie Corpus Christi
The movie Corpus Christi is due to be released this June to August.
This disgusting film set to appear in America later this year and it depicts Jesus and his disciples as homosexuals! As a play, this has already been in theatres for a while. It's called Corpus Christi ' which means 'The Christ Body.' It's a revolting mockery of our Lord. But, we can make a difference. That's why I am sending this e-mail to you. If you do send this around, we may be able to prevent this film from showing in America andSouth Africa
Apparently, some regions in Europe have already banned the film. We need a lot of prayers and a lot of e-mails.
As a Christian I want to take a stand in what I believe in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior.
At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I'm forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it. Please help us prevent such offenses against our Lord. It will take you less than 2 minutes to pass it on.
If you are not interested, or do not have the 2 Minutes it will take to do this , please don't complain when God does not have time for you, because He is far busier than we are..

This sort of email belongs only in one place...the deleted box. If you know this person they appear to be pushing their beliefs onto you which is something that I am strongly against.
The other side of this is that forwarding emails of this sort is the easiest way to promote and pass on vicious viruses and worms. Regardless of where is came from please do everyone including yourself an extremely large favor and distroy it.

I'm callin' foul. There's no other info about this, as Truth Or Fiction (http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/g/gayjesusmovie.htm) notes, and it isn't on the Holy Grail of movies, IMDB.com. Just a big joke.
Kind of sucks, though. I would *so* watch a movie that re-interpreted Jesus as gay.

Isn't that a part of "Freedom of speech". If you want freedom of speech, you just have to take the good with the bad and ugly. This has been done before, and I'm sure, will be done again.Well, Christ is not my saviour, nor half the world which do not believe in Christ. Sorry, fair game.

First of all-I didnt send the original email; I copied the text and posted it. I was curious if anyone had Heard of any type of movie such as this,or if it was just another internet hoax. If its a hoax, I can inform the person who sent it to me that its a bunch of BS.
Thanks for all the feed back thus far. :}

As would I. I remember watching Jesus Christ Superstar awhile back. Man, that play really depicts him as a whiny-pussy-bitch. I hated it.
...But then again I hate religion in general.

As I recall, as a kid, the right wing Christians also protested against Jesus Christ Superstar, too. Of course, there were fewer of them, then.

One thing you do have to ask questions about, though: it is certainly odd that a man from a traditional Jewish background was over 30 and never married.

I always do find it funny when real movies, books, plays, art exhibits or whatever comes out that "people of faith" find offensive and want to try to ban them or prevent them from being performed because this all powerful "God" is going to be hurt in some fashion by that and "He" takes offense----but "God" doesn't seem to get too stoked up about situations like Darfur where many thousands of people get mindlessly slaughtered by their fellow human beings over a long period of time!!!!
If "God" can get hurt and all bent out of shape by something like a book, a movie, or an exhibition of photographs of beautiful human bodies that has a "homosexual" theme to them or anything of this sort---but "He" is apparently not very much concerned with humans engaging in wholesale butchery of each other---I say to that "God"----thanks but no thanks pal----you ain't no kinda God I want to have anything to do with!!!

A business associate of ours recently sent us an e-mail describing how NBC ran an on-line survey about whether "In God We Trust" should be removed from the currency.
They reported that it was the most widely answered survey they had ever run and that the over whelming majoirity of people answered that we should NOT delete the phrase from the coins and bills.
I was suspicious of these results and found the URL. Here it is:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/
I have copied the possible responses and here they are:
Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.
No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.
As you can see, the majority of the people responding answered "NO" but it certainly not the "NO" that the Christian right wanted you to believe it was. If you read the e-mail and the request to forward it (and the huge picture of Jesus against an American flag) to all your friends, you'd be quite sure that 86% of the American population want it to stay for religious reasons.
So... just another example of "spin."
When I run into a religious person. I always think. "They look so normal."

I agree with you whole-heartedly Volty!!! Like any work of great literature - Jesus and his time on earth is open to reinterpretation. So what's the fuss? If your faith is shaken simply because someone reinterpreted the story - then it was pretty shaky to begin with. IMHO. P.S. Rissa - watch spouting that pagan stuff - they'll be banning the Wizard of Oz and Hocus Pocus next!!!! LOL Your fellow Pagan - Wolfie

I hadnt heard about this one at all. As a Christian myself I know Im more unique in that I dont push my beliefs on others and I very much respect other peoples beliefs. I dont bash anyone for not believing in what I know for me to be true. I dont openly bash other religions in forums because even though you may not be picking out one single person, some of your statements, even in this thread, can be hurtful to those you consider to be friendly with or those who consider you a friend. 2 things Ive always considered to be true, never discuss religion or politics with your friends if you want to keep them as friends. I have a lot of friends I made here on this site. Some who I hold very dear to me. They arent Christian and thats just fine by me, they are still very good, wonderful, kind, lovely people. Who they pray to does not label them.
Now, as a Christian I dont really care about movies, books etc that depict religion, God, Christ as whatever. I believe in free speech and media is just that. If someone wants to make a movie and depict Christ and the disciples as gay, then so be it. Religious people dont have to see it. Those who wanted to see it could and it wouldnt make a difference to me one way or the other.
As for this movie I think its a bunch of crap, not real, just someone trying to pull strings and irritate you. I didnt get the mail so Im thinking maybe they targeted you for some lame reason.
And with that... Have a happy day everybody!! :) *hugs*

Not to mention that some of these type emails that want you forward a petition have tracker-bots that log each and every email name and is then unknowingly forwarded to the originator of the chain (a spammers treasure chest). Can you say "Malware"?

Thank you for saying this better than I can.
Those of you that know me, know that I go to church on a very regular basis. But you never hearing me bashing any other beliefs in chat or on the forums.
I think we lost the concept of what Cat posted this for. She just wanted to know if anyone else had heard of this, and whether it was true.
BTW, I saw Jesus Christ Superstar when I was in high school, saw it in English Class. I thought it was very sacreligious. I recently found it on DVD. I was curious to see what I was so offended by 25 years ago. I watched it again. I was not offended, but also I do not think that Jesus was portrayed as you say M. Wolfe. I wasn't real impressed with the movie but was not offended.

Dunno about that, he was no kind of political radical, called the liberal Pharisees hypocrites, and had some very firm ideas about rendering unto Caesar. I wouldn't be so sure that the 'Christian right' is not in accordance with the founder's views.

But they do need to know what they are against, so without looking at it, how could they ban it. A bit like the censor board. We can, you can't.And remember, they have to up date all the time.

No I'm not. It's all still open for reinterpretation. And if you TRULY walk in faith - you should have enough confidence to tolerate reinterpretation. If you are that sensitive about it - maybe your faith needs to be a little stronger. In other words - they need to lighten up! Wolfie.

Assuming there is a God (which I am aware is a big assumption for some people in this room), I just keep wondering what God would truly think about all the inane things we think and say about him, his thoughts, and his motives.
Mind you, if God were to exist, there is no particular reason God couldn't be an asshole if he so chose to be. I know plenty of assholes who exist! But somehow, I just don't think that God hates fags, or anyone else for that matter.
I think that some people skew religious texts (which are themselves complex and often contradictory creatures) to fit their own sick and twisted views on life. But I'm not interested in holding God responsible for the idiocy of some of his followers. Humans don't need divine intervention to be fools; we're quite good at that on our own.
If God doesn't exist, then this is a moot point. But it's my :2cents:, I s'pose...
