Soldier's Friend Keeps Promise By Wearing a Neon Dress to His Funeral

Posted Sep 16th 2009 at 1:40PM by Erin Donnelly

Bust out the Kleenex, people.

The somber funeral for slain Scottish soldier Kevin Elliott was brightened -- sartorially, at least -- by an attendee in a neon green, tight-fitting dress and hot pink knee socks.

The fluorescent getup was worn by the soldier's best friend, Barry Delainey, fulfilling his and Elliott's promise to wear a dress to the funeral of whomever passed away first, The Telegraph reports.

Sadly, the 24-year-old Elliott died before his time during an insurgent attack in Afghanistan on August 31, The Telegraph reports, though his funeral was not held in Dundee until yesterday.

It's good to see there are those who do keep promises!

No one will ever be as close to their friends as those who are in the military. My friends from back in the late '50s through the late '60s are still friends to this day.

 Wow, you know if that were me in that dress, keeping a promise. Outwardly I may act like I am embarrassed and reminding everybody of the commitment that I made and I was a "man that kept their word", and that the commitment that I made should be kept. And so on and so forth. But inwardly I would be saying something like HELL YES, COOL, I LOVE IT, and a pair of hot pink socks would not be the only pink that I would be wearing. Because pink has got to be my favorite color :tong: And I would have more on than a nee - on too.

Now after saying all that!!!

I do admire the guy for keeping his promise, no matter how he may have felt about it, (for all I know he may have enjoyed it more than I would have) .,.,.,. To me if a person, as a rule, will not keep their word or promise, and can never be depended on. Then they are just plain ole worthless :disgust: To me, a person should honor their commitments!

Thats my :2cents: .,.,.,.,. Your friend, :doggie:
